As an avid LEGO enthusiast, I recently had the pleasure of building the LEGO Set 71799 Ninjago City Markets, and it truly exceeded my expectations. This set is part of the Ninjago City series, and I must say, it’s an impressive addition to the lineup. Initial Thoughts…
First and foremost, the set’s design is exceptional. The Ninjago City Markets are intricately crafted, capturing the essence of a bustling Asian-inspired marketplace. With an array of colourful stalls, traditional architecture, and characteristic features, LEGO has truly brought this vibrant market to life. From the decorative elements to the printed tiles and signage, every corner of this set reflects a high level of craftsmanship.

Whilst all my Lego reviews focus on the positive aspects of the design and build it’s only fair to provide a well-rounded review by acknowledging some minor imperfections. During the building process, I did encounter a few hiccups, most notably on page 27, step 20 of the instruction manual.
At this juncture, the discrepancy between the part listed in the items list and the one depicted in the build diagram was apparent. Builders must remain vigilant during such instances to ensure the correct piece is used to maintain the structural integrity and overall aesthetics of the set. If in doubt, go with the item in the diagram.
Despite this minor glitch, I must emphasize that such issues were rare and did not significantly impact the overall enjoyment of the building experience. LEGO has an excellent track record of providing clear and concise instructions, making the assembly process smooth and engaging. This minor mistake should not deter potential buyers from exploring the wonders of Ninjago City Markets.

I found myself thoroughly immersed in the build, and the satisfaction of seeing the vibrant market come to life far outweighed any momentary confusion caused by the minor discrepancies. Once completed, the set was an absolute masterpiece, a feast for the eyes, and a joy to behold.
One of the aspects that truly impressed me was the level of minifigure detail. The set includes a diverse range of characters, each with unique outfits and expressions. LEGO did an outstanding job creating these minifigures, as they add character and storytelling possibilities to the set. The inclusion of well-known Ninjago characters as well as market vendors and shoppers enrich the play experience, allowing for endless adventures within the bustling market setting.

Building the set was a rewarding experience. While it might be slightly challenging for younger builders due to its size and complexity, it offers a satisfying and enjoyable building process for more experienced LEGO fans. The instructions are clear and straightforward, and the modular design of the marketplace enables easy rearrangement and expansion, making it compatible with other Ninjago City sets.
